Summary

A simple, removeable replacement for the stock Ultimaker reel mount that can handle all sorts of reel sizes and generates less friction.

Instructions

You will need a short length of 1/2" ID PVC pipe, cut to the width of your widest reel + 25mm (1"). Slightly chamfering the ends will make assembly a bit easier.

Insert the pipe into the base, and use the through holes in the base as guides to drill #32 holes in the PVC. This will allow you to use a 1.25" #4 bolt and nut to lock the pipe into the base (or remove it for transport).

Place the tip on the floor with the tapered side up, and push the other end of the pipe into it. It will be a very tight fit.

Remove the stock Ultimaker reel mount and unscrew the mount plate. Replace the plate with your new base and bolt it securely using the original bolts.

Insert the pipe, line up the holes, insert the #4 bolt and tighten it up. All done!

Suggested printing parameters: 1mm top/bottom, 3mm wall, 20% infill.
