Summary

After reading the importance of keeping nylon as dry as possible to reach good results and the speed with which Nylon absorbs humidity from the air (we usually have humidity of 80+ over here), I build the pictured container in order to keep the nylon as dry as possible during use and storage.

Instructions

You will need:

Container seal (printable, part of this thing)
Silicate container top and bottom (printable, part of this thing)
Spool rack (download here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:74278)
Plastic Container (dimensions of the one I used: 20cm wide x 13cm deep x 16cm tall)
Desiccant dehumidifiers (make sure the pellets are not to small as they will fall through the holes in the top container otherwise) - keep out of the reach of children.

Print the spool rack, seal (the top cap has an inbuild support below the pins, which you need to remove once printed), top and bottom of the silicate container.

Assemble the rack and filament spool and place it inside the container (see picture) and secure with double sided tape if necessary. Place the lid on top and make a hole (around 8mm diameter) so that the filament can be pulled upwards through the lid easily. Install the plug in the hole and (if necessary) open the hole inside the cap with a drill so the filament can pass through but still has a tight fit. This will allow you to hold the filament in place when you close the cap so that you can retrieve it easily for the next print without opening the lid of the box - if it slides out, simply bend the last 1mm of the filament once it is through the hole. (I will try and incorporate some kind of clamp mechanism with the next release to improve the seal even more).

Place the top silicate case on top of the bottom and fill the top with silicate. I use double sided tape to stick it to the bottom of the container.

In order to print, loosen the cap and pull the filament into your printer (the seal hole is the same size as the Replicator2/2x bowden tubing so you could extend it all the way from the extruder down to the case for an even better airseal.
