QX03b Cord Wrap System
QX03b-03 Cable Wrap System
This is an adaptation/remix of Swighton’s “Happy Headphone Cord Winder.” It is larger, and less happy. I had to roughly trace the STL provided by Swighton into Fusion360, but I kept true to the basic aesthetics.
This design accommodates Stereo A/V cords, thicker USB cords commonly used for PRINTERS, AUDIO INTERFACE equipment, and light-duty POWER CORDS.
The hanger fits easily on ½” thinwall, or similar rod.
This design allows easy storage, easy identification, and when the cord is needed for use it can be partially unwrapped so that the QX03b family can be used to take-up cord slack.
This was designed and implemented using PLA. The Hold-Down tabs work okay, but they break if you attempt to insert a cord with too large a diameter.
I have included a STEP file with 4 different manifestations of the QX03b so that you can easily import them into a cad program for modifications and improvements specific to your application. If you are not going to use the Label Tab version (QX03b-03) then print the other models, because that extra Z-Axis is a time vampire!
I employ ReplicatorG for slicing/G-Code/export (.x3g)
I request 2 shells (3 total).
Supports are required for tabs!
TRIPLE PRINT
The design for the triple print fits on a Flash-Forge Creator bed of 6”x9” with room to spare.
The “Sheet” that attaches the three parts into a single file is 0.01 mm thick, and is not translated by ReplicatorG into a printable component, therefore only the hanging cord-wraps are printed.
REQUEST: Please help me improve my sharing! STEP files have proven reliable for me to transport file between different platforms. If STEPs are a problem for you, please let me know what other common and relatively generic Cad format works better for you.
