Hanging Spool Mount
A simple hanging mount designed to accommodate most types of filament spools and be printed with little to no support material. The octagon-shaped crossbar which supports the spool allows the guide arm to be oriented at 45 degree angles.
Included in the file is a small clip which affixes to the guide arm. You may need to give it a little extra attention with a file or sandpaper to achieve a proper fit, depending on how well calibrated your machine is.
The chains shown supporting my spools were part of another project from earlier that day, but adapted well to this design. Should you wish to use them yourself, I've included the file for a single link of the chain. Copy, paste, print, and enjoy!
Revision 1
- The new filament guide arm is ~9.5mm further from the spool axis than the original, and is slightly smaller.
- The modular filament clip has been adjusted to fit the redesigned guide arm.
- The filament guide hole has been rotated by 90 degrees from the original, and the inner taper has been shallowed out considerably. This was done to reduce flexion stress when feeding out larger diameter spools.
- Crossbar end caps have been thickened for strength. This has expanded the Y axis by ~2.5mm.
I kept the original version (with slightly modified end caps) in the files for those who either preferred that design or have smaller print surfaces which are simply incapable of handling Rev.1
