LED Air Rocket Adapter
This is an easy to print adapter to add LED's to your compressed air rockets. Allows you to launch at dusk or at night for a rocket light show - plus helps you find it in the dark...
Fits air rockets based on a 1/2" pipe launch tube. Works well with Air Rocket Works compressed air rocket parts: www.airrocketworks.com
- Print all 3 parts, Lower LED Housing.STL, Upper LED Housing.STL and LED Bend Tool.STL
- Test threads and adjust printer settings if needed.
- Locate (3) 5mm LED's and 2 AG13/LR44 batteries.
- Bend and trim LED legs using the 3D printed tool. Using the multi-image above, start in the upper left image by orienting the LED with the short leg (adjacent to the flat on the LED) near the top
- Bend the long LED leg straight down
- Bend the long LED leg to the right to fit in the groove
- Bend the upper LED leg to fit in the upper groove
- Mark the LED legs between the two arrowheads
- Remove and trim the LED legs, then double check length and bends in the tool
- Test the LED polarity by checking it across the batteries as shown.
- Repeat with 2 more LED's
- Install 3 bent LED's along with 2 batteries into the cavity in the Lower LED Housing. Adjust the upper lead so the LED's are not illuminated.
- Thread the Upper LED Housing part into place, and adjust LED legs to have it turn on/off the LED's with a twist.
- Using superglue, install the lower LED housing into a ABS Body Tube.
- Trim and apply sticker fins
- Insert foam nose into Upper LED Housing
- Turn on and LAUNCH!
