Deck and Discard Pile Holder Folding

This is a remix of "Hermes_aile"'s "Deck and Discard Pile Holder Folding" card holder for Firefly The Game and other games that use the same card size.

It is designed to be a print in place model. Gaps of 0.2mm have been left around the hinges and axles to allow them to move after the print has been completed. This is tight on my printer but I have never had one fail, and the tightness allows helps keep the system from collapsing.

There are two clamps that you can print. A double and a single.

  • The double has 2 functions. It holds two of the deck holders together, when they are placed in the slots. They also stop the front vertical arms from collapsing.
  • The single is designed to go in the front slots to stop the vertical arms from collapsing.

When folded, there are four location slots and keys to help with stacking them

The bar that slides up and down at the back and is a support for the upper layer is designed so that it can be turned when the system is folded flat to help keep every thing flat.

On the rear verticals, there is a key that is used to keep the upper platforms in place when the system if folded flat. Be careful when removing support material and during the initial folding that the upper platform arms do not get caught.

I have tried to keep things as close to the original design as possible, so I have not increased the total height to increase strength.

I am not sure if it would be stronger with a lower print layer height.
