Robotics Vehicle Platform
These are building blocks for making a robotics electric vehicle in different sizes. Ideal for autonomous/self driving and general prototypes etc.
It uses 25mm steel tube and inserts with 8/13mm bolts/nuts. The wheels are from Bauhaus with aluminium cores, kind of for a wheelbarrow. 22mm skateboard bearings are used for the steering setup.
Other smaller wheels like from a mountainboard can also be used.
The steering works with a servo, and the current design has a limit around 50kg for practical steering with the chosen servo. But another design for the steering will change this limitation. I have a design using a stepper motor, ask if you are interested.
The rest of the design is proven to be able to carry over 200kg in a 1m X 1m size setup with the side tensioners.
The drivetrain used is the mid drive system I also designed: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2589187
The whole motor unit is supposed to be able to slide to enable automatic belt tensioning. Springs should be mounted in order to pull the motor slide away from the wheel.
Its running with VESC 4.12 motor controller controlled by an ESP32 with Pacer https://github.com/faraday-motion/pacer that is my framework for full control of the vehicle from a joystick, smartphone webapp etc.
