The Notifier
THE NOTIFIER
This is my submission to the #fusion360challenge.
It is a desktop notification system that uses a sparkfun transparent Oled as a retractable screen to give the user a clean, futuristic UI.
The Notifier can completely retracts via two servos when the user does not want to be bugged or privacy is a concern (and it looks cool!). There is a single ring lit button on the front. This would allow the user to power on/off THE NOTIFIER with a long press, pair a Bluetooth device with a short press and reset hardware with five rapid presses
I'm certain The Notifier could be ran by a custom PCB using an ATMEGA 2560 as a MCU and the HM-13 Bluetooth module. In the design, I have included two 400mA LiPo batteries which should provide at least a days worth of constant use. The Notifier is equipped with a USB-C charging port.
I believe the main body design showcases a 3D printers ability to produce complex designs that would be difficult to make using other methods. I tried to minimize overhang in an effort to decrease print time and reduce support scarring.
NOTES/ TO-DO:
I think the mechanism to raise and lower the screen could be problematic. Possibly the two arms need to be joined with a slot and pin? Some experimentation is needed. As I get time, I'll update the design.
Adding some RGB LED's to the interior of the body would be pretty cool (and easy). A user could put The Notifier in "priority mode" were the screen is retracted and only allowed notifications would light the device?
Make sure the USB port is power and data, giving the user the ability to push firmware updated to The Notifier. This would also allow for debugging during development.
Incorporate a Temp/humidity sensor IC and RTC on the custom PCB and read out environmental data and time when no notification are being displayed.
Add ambient light sensor to auto-magically adjust LED and display brightness.
- All sensors use i2c
