ecobee SmartThermostat with Voice Control mount

This is an adapter to mount an ecobee4 or ecobee SmartThermostat with Voice Control to a standard 1-gang electrical box, 2 in x 3 in.

The thermostat wire in my house comes out through such an electrical box. This prevents standard mounting as the ecobee screw distance is 2 in while the electrical box has a 3 in void.

I was inspired by designs by benzboyracer01, Mirokuki, and jmsaltzman. Note that the ecobee3 has a different screw distance than the ecobee4. I was motivated to design from scratch as I wanted a more exact measurements, countersinking for the box screws, a thinner profile, and full coverage of the box for strength.

I used Fusion 360 and ensured exact fit with imperial measurements. The inner screw holes are exactly 2 in apart, and the outer screw holes are exactly 3 9/32 in apart. It fully covers a 2 in x 3 in box and rests on the lip.

It was printed in ABS with 100% infill. The standard screws included with the ecobee are used, and the inner holes have threads cut by them.

Suggested modifications include narrowing the mount to not cover the full box to save material and altering the box screw tabs so that device screws can be flush with the surface.
