Scale Model Building and Painting Stand

I wanted a building and painting stand for my scale model planes. Searching Thingiverse, I discovered the stand by esorreta that was almost like I what I was looking for.

I applied some modifications to better fit my needs:

  • Longer horizontal arms: I mostly build 1/48 scale planes so I wanted the arms to be a bit longer.
  • Option to use longer vertical sliders: to be able to use longer sliders if necessary, depending on the model.
  • Simpler design of the fixed "saddles": for easier printing.
  • Thumbwheels with nuts: for locking the sliders in place (inspired by thumbwheels usually used for 3D printer heated bed leveling).
  • Interlocking arms/cross center: to not require glue.
  • Extra holes for screws: for easy integration with IKEA SNUDDA round rotating board.
