Summary

Here is a kit to convert a Hatchbox spool into a reel. Could be used in many different ways such as a kite reel, an antenna reel, diver reel etc.

How I Designed This

There are a few spool handle reel Conversion kits here in Thingiverse but none were adapted to my use.

I had a few different spools from different filament manufactures laying around. What was the best spool to base my model around? So I went with what I think are some best sellers:

Overture
Hatchbox
Amazon Basics

Overture was out of the question because nowadays, their spools are made out of cardboard and not plastic anymore (don't get me wrong, this is a good thing but bad for this project). I found the Amazon Basics spools had a "large" inner diameter, so I went with Hatchbox spools.

BTW in my analysis, I weighted the different spools and here are my resuts:

Overture (old plastic ones) = 240g
Hatchbox = 244g
Amazon Basics = 244g
Nova Maker = 182g (!!)

Considering the weight of a spool is "net" at 1kg, then you'll find out than most filament manufacturers are selling spools and less filament. Anyway, done ranting.
