Nathaniel Richards is a scientist from the 31st Century, who discovered the existence of the Multiverse and his alternate selves. Unlike most of his Variants, Richards sought to conquer as many worlds as possible, so he started the Multiversal War, becoming known as Kang the Conqueror. Kang's attempt to destroy the Multiverse was foiled, as his other self, He Who Remains, isolated the timeline to keep Kang from his goal. However, when Sylvie Laufeydottir killed He Who Remains, Kang returned and became the new ruler of the Time Variance Authority.
