Summary

This is a three-layer halftone stencil of the superhero The Thing. You can cut the linear halftone layers on a laser or craft cutter using the attached SVGs.
How I Designed This

            <p class="detail-caption">Painting the linear halftone layers of The Thing.</p>            <p class="detail-title"><strong>Step 1: Prep</strong></p>            <div><p>You should have three good-size pieces of card stock (11" x 11" minimum), a manila folder would do. You should also have access to a craft or laser cutter. Cutting these stencils by hand is not recommended.</p><p>Spray paint (any brand) in bright blue, orange and black. (Or if you like the end of the video, you can also use purple, green and black.) </p><p>Finally, you need a light-colored surface to paint on (like a canvas or a piece of watercolor paper or white wall).</p></div>                <p class="detail-title"><strong>Step 2: Cut</strong></p>            <div><p>Cut the three layers (orange, blue, and black) on a craft or laser cutter. If you resize the SVG, make sure you resize all SVGs together at the same time. That way you don't end up with an orange layer that doesn't match the blue layer.</p></div>                <p class="detail-title"><strong>Step 3: Paint</strong></p>            <div><p>Paint the orange layer first. You may want to use repositionable adhesive (like stencil spray, or quilt basting spray) to hold each stencil in place while you paint it. The spray not only helps keep the position of the stencil, but also keeps the paint from pooling and dripping underneat the stencil (where it doesn't belong).</p><p>When you paint the orange layer, fill in the registration marks with a pencil so that you'll be able to align the blue and black layers later.</p><p>Paint the blue layer next.
