How I Designed This

Why I Made This

            <div><pre><code> I wanted to make a swap that would stand out at the 2023 Science Olympiad National Tournament swap meet. Since I am a competitor of a South Carolina based team, of which was last year's state champion, I needed something that would represent us and our state, but it needed to be simple and easy to print. I found the original file this was remixed from and did a test print. It was great but the middle was a little flimsy and I didn't think it would survive the long trip to Wichita, Kansas. I decided to make a few modifications to the model to beef it up some.</code></pre></div>                <p class="detail-title"><strong>What I Changed</strong></p>            <div><pre><code> I threw the original file into OnShape and used it as a stencil to trace a filler for the middle, but still had a cutout for the moon that would double as a hole for the keychain. I then took both models and combined them in Meshmixer so that they would print as one. I originally overlaid them in Cura but found that there was no way to make them one part in there and they ended up printing on top of each other.</code></pre></div>                <p class="detail-title"><strong>Final Product</strong></p>            <div><pre><code> It took a few prints to iron out some kinks in the design, but the final product turned out exactly the way I wanted. I used some metal braided cords with twist clasps found on Amazon to loop through the moon so that it can be used as a keychain.</code></pre></div>
