EVA Foam overlapping scale mail pattern

This is a chain mail I designed based on an early 20th century image of Joan of Arc.

The very nice chain mail pattern provided by user BenE does have a corresponding scale mail, but the overlap is a little troublesome and I didn't find the shape adequate to my particular costume needs. This is a slightly larger scale and it overlaps very nicely to create a full coverage mail. Please pardon the rough edges in the photo as it's been cut at prototype settings just to get the size correct.
