Toshiba/IBM 40N7706 Receipt Printer Position Sensor Beam Breaker

This is a piece designed for use in a Toshiba/IBM 40N7706 POS receipt printer.

The top cover for the MICR reader has a plastic finger on the right side that is prone to breakage. This finger is used to break a laser beam so the printer knows the top cover is closed. The printer will not function without this finger in position to break the beam.

In order to use this piece, you must drill a hole above where the finger should be (there should be a dimple from manufacturing in the exact spot for this hole). Then, using some adhesive plastic-safe adhesive, insert the peg on the top of this model into the drilled hole. Ensure the piece drys into place and will break the beam when the cover is closed.

Now you don't need to replace the entire cover because of a simple broken sliver of plastic!
