Ball Grip with Magnetic Close and Adjustable Collets
The ball grip assistive device help people who cannot easily grip a utensil, like a pencil, or cannot grip one for a prolongued period of time.
This device is a ball grip remixed for an individual who did not want a screw mechanism/interface when swapping utensils, specifically paintbrushes. The removal of the screw mechanism makes this device more accessible to people who have difficulty performing tasks with repeated wrist rotations.
This version has the threads removed from the ball grip and replaced with holes for 8mm dia. X 2mm magnets. The hole diameter is 8.8mm on the STL due to our printer's hole precision. The hole depth is 2.1mm for the same reasoning.
The STEP has been added for the bodies in case this tolerance is too large for your printer's precision.
There is also a STEP version of the 6mm dia. collet included if you want to resize the inner diameter.
The collets were printed out of Ninjaflex 85A TPU on a Flashforge Creator Pro. The TPU gives it good friction to hold the utensil, and allows for some varying utensil diameters. We suggest printing the collets from TPU on a direct drive printer.
The flexibility of TPU does change with the infill and wall settings. If you only have 95A TPU, adjust the infill and walls accordingly.
