Wheelchair Handle Stent

A light wheelchair frequently comes with a couple of annoying mechanisms who allow to detach the handles of both sides. These mechanism are not only redundant, but tend to break a lot. Once even just one of them breaks, most people will opt to get a new wheelchair.

Well, if you have a 3D printer, you have an alternative: You can print a stent that will replace the mechanism altogether. So should you want to remove an handle, it will still be possible, but you will need a hex key.. At least it will not break so easily (and if it does, you can always re-print).

This model of a stent has four holes in different heights so that you can roughly adjust the height of the handle. Also added the blender file, so you can make as many holes in it as you like, before you print.

I recommend printing with 100% infill and in PC, as you'd wish this part to be as strong as possible. In addition, printing the part horizontally, will make the laminations vertical, further adding to the part's rigidity.
