Spray refiller tool

I thought about making this tired of having to throw away some almost-full presurized cans because they have the liquid but lose all the air pressure.

Most common example for me is contact cleaner, maybe some of its components chemically attacks the valve, I do not know.

I am aware of some makers putting a valve in the can itself:

...but in my opinion this is dangerous (in case is not perfectly empty, only the valve is obstruded, toxic or flamable products, etc.) and troublesome for a single use, since I lack the product to refill it anyways. Some people also refills it directly with the tip of a compressor but they usually make a mess in the process.

First version (not included) was made with the idea of being totally 3D-printable, with PETG gaskets. This worked fine, but had 2 problems: 1) It only fitted my air compressor and 2) Toroidal ruber gaskets are cheap and work better.

Note that this version requires a bit of work and the following extra parts:

  • 1/8 threaded air valve (found on amazon or aliexpress)
  • 1/8-inch thread tap
  • 5 x 1.5 O-ring (for the can)
  • 8 x 1.9 O-ring (for the valve). This can be a bit different in size with no problem

I usually fill the cans with about 5-6 bar, I suggest the same to stay on the safe side. The part is made to fit a 15mm open-end wrench or socket to make the process of making the thread and tightening the valve easier.

Happy refilling.
