P-clip Solidoodle power cable support
The Solidoodle is a fantastic printer for its price, but there are a few weaknesses in its design - for example the heavy-duty power cable connected to a flimsy screw connector on the Sanguino board without any additional support. This simple P-clip is intended to support the cable and take the strain off the Sanguino board. It fixes to the case mounting screw hole below the Sanguino.
Be very careful while fitting the clip! The power connector snapped right off my Sanguino board while installing this prototype. It now has a much more robust screw connector which I luckily had in stock. I'd recommend that fixing the clip is a two-person job, one supporting the power lead while the other screws the clip to the Solidoodle frame.
The clip will interfere with the Solidoodle case in its default position. So you'll need to either remove a little of the flange on the case to clear the clip or (stongly recommended) fit some spacers to the case to raise it 2.5-3cm. This will clear the P-clip and also give much more space for the filament above the extruder.
