Logan Lathe Miter Gear with Key LA-189 LP-1213

This is the apron miter gear for a Logan 10" lathe. I designed this in Freecad after crashing my lathe and ruining the gear. I've been running it in PLA for 2 years now and the part has no apparent wear. I determined the pitch diameter to be 1.5" based on measurements and availability of standard size gears. My plan was to prototype in plastic and then print in steel but plastic is working so well there's really no need.

V2 parameterizes gear height and removes backlash. V1 resembles the part off the machine but V2 looks like the photos of the official part available for purchase and it can be printed gear side down without supports.

When you use this part you will not use the retaining ring as that would deform the plastic. I have found it to be unnecessary. Theoretically this could allow the shaft to be shortened however I left it full length for added key strength.

Let me know how this works out for you!
