Work-Life Balance Seesaw Model
Work-Life Balance Seesaw Model – Cardboard Design
Description:
This project is a DIY cardboard seesaw model representing the balance between life and work. One side holds symbolic weights for aspects like rest, hobbies, and family, while the other side holds weights for stress, deadlines, and overwork. The goal of this model is to visually raise awareness about the importance of maintaining balance in our busy lives.
Ideal for schools, universities, or personal use, this easy-to-build project encourages reflection on priorities and well-being.
Materials Needed
- Sturdy cardboard sheets for the base and beam
- Lighter cardboard for weights
- Scissors or craft knife
- Glue or tape for assembly
- Markers for labeling weights
Assembly Instructions
- Prepare the Base
Cut out the shapes from the provided files to form a half-circle base and additional components. Assemble them as shown to create a rounded, rocking bottom that allows smooth tilting. - Create and Label the Weights
Cut box-shaped pieces from lighter cardboard to form the weights. Label them according to life and work factors (e.g., Rest, Family, Deadlines, Stress). Use different sizes to represent varying impacts, with larger weights for heavier influences.
Implementation
Try varying the sizes or weights of the “life” and “work” components to reflect different real-life scenarios. Place the labeled weights on the beam and adjust their positions to explore how balance shifts in different life-work scenarios.
Customization
3D Print
If you prefer a more durable model, you can convert our 3DM file into STL format to make it compatible with 3D printers. This allows you to create a sturdy, lasting version of the seesaw.
Laser Cutter
For a precise, professional-looking model, use a laser cutter to cut out each piece from materials like wood, acrylic, or cardboard. Laser cutting enhances the model's clean lines and can improve overall stability.
