CNC machine from Creality CR-6 SE and Dremel 300
This is a remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4845518. See his page for more info. I made a small remix (location M3 bolts) for mounting his bracket on a CR-6 SE and added a small adapter ring to mount a Dremel 300 on that (Dremel 3000) bracket.
Specifics for a CR-6 SE:
- remove the entire print head and pull the flat cable from its socket, also remove the bowden tube.
- remove the printer bed heater and temp sensor cable (or cut it if your soldering iron isn't big enough) and remove the entire cable (open the casing of the main board and unscrew the heater cable (leave the other red and black 24V + and - in place). Removing that cable isn't necessary, removing it is less cable spaghetti and no accidental heated bed with wood attached to it.
- insert a small piece of filament in the runout sensor (without filament the printer won't power up)
- Don't mount a toolhead (yet). Power up the printer and select axis home from the menu. It will drop an error during homing because the sensor in the print head is missing, just ignore it and press continue once it has stopped trying. Home is now defined by the switches on X, Y and Z. Without homing you can't move the Z axis up.
- Mount the toolhead in the Dremel and move (from the on screen menu) the tooltip to the desired home (X Y Z) of your material (starting point of the drawing at 0,0 in Easel or some other CAM drawing.
- Power down and power up the printer to fix this point as home (0,0,0). If you don't do this you could see the head with the mounted Dremel trying to puncture you base plate, the force applied by the X Y Z motors is impressive ;)
- That's it
- rename the .nc file to .gcode store it on the SD, and start the CNC job as a regular print job
If your CR6SE has seen heavy use (mine did) you should check the play on the rollers on all axes. For CNC use, play is not acceptable. Easy enough to fix because one (of three) or two (of four) have eccentric bolts on the gantries.
