WDLR G class wagon
This is my interpretation of the WW1 War Department Light Railway G class wagon. The original carried three rectangular tanks for Cylinder Oil, Lubricating Oil and Paraffin Oil. I used the drawing by Peter Foley in the book "WDLR Companion" by Colonel David W Roland and Roy C Link. I also looked at a photo of the original wagon which Peter Foley posted to the 16mm Military Narrow Gauge Modellers Facebook page. Errors and omissions in the model are mine.
I used 2mm diameter steel rod for axles. 1.4mm diameter florists wire was used to join the tank end supports and the for cross shaft that carries the brake shoes. The tank outlet pipes are bent from copper wire of about 1.5mm diameter.
Note the axle guards and side girders are handed. This is so the brake cross shaft can clear the spring hangers.
