The large tabs are meant to hold the tape. they are ½ the width of the Ezlifego double sided tape.

Sometimes the Wiseorb canisters aren't completely pressed together for one reason or another. The spacing should account for those variations, but you may need to press the two halves of the canisters together yourself.
