Minions Zodiac Stone (Prop)

I have a fondness for "things from movies to hold in your hand", a feeling that was triggered by the Zodiac Stone from the second Minions movie. To my surprise I could not find it anywhere, and I hesitated to try my hand at it for a while. I finally did, and to my surprise it worked out better than expected.

I printed it in golden PLA. Use the "paint in" feature in your preferred slicer to print the base of the central ring of symbols in green, which should be easier than painting it.

For my prop, I used 20 mm green tinted glass cabochons on top of zodiac symbols printed on standard inkjet paper. I glued it all together (and also coatet the whole thing) with UV resin and let the stone cure in the sun for good measure. I got a pack of these cabochons that came in a small range of sized, and picked out those that fit the openings best. The resin gives you a bit of leeway in terms of fit.

Another option is to use PVA glue to cover the paper piece, then let it cure thoroughly, rendering it transparent (hopefully).
