Figueroa Street/Arroyo Seco Tunnel Portals, Los Angeles

A simplified, N-scale recreation of the tunnels along the "one-ten" (US 110) past Dodger Stadium, downtown Los Angeles

version: 0.0.1 (still very much a work-in-progress)

In 1931 the Arroyo Seco Parkway (US 110) became the first US freeway, connecting Pasadena to Downtown Los Angeles. In doing this, however, the eastbound lanes took over a section of Figueroa Street and its iconic tunnels through the hills near Elysian Park.

SoCal PBS has a nice article on these tunnels, Before the 110 Freeway, Figueroa Street Ran Through These Tunnels
