Go board 13x13

A 13x13 3D printable, medium size Go (Baduk, Weiqi) set designed for portability. This board is intended for intermediate learners who find a 9x9 board too limiting.

Keep in mind you need to print the board 4 times I make a full 13x13 board.

This board is compatible with standard sized 22mm go pieces.
No pieces are included in this model.

Everything in this post is fully designed to be printed by non-ams printers.
The .3mf file was for my BambuLab A1

A thinner layer height is recommended because if the positioning of the magnets is slightly off then the board feels a bit uneven if they are not aligned properly. My first prototype was with thicker draft layers but they caused me issues with vertical magnet alignment.

Attaching magnets

Make sure to use 6mm x 3 mm sized circle magnets to be able to slot in the holes. They are designed to not have this size magnet protrude from the holes. Make sure that the pattern of the magnets are like in the image attached otherwise you will have problems with matching the panels.

The attached image shows the pattern that lets you print all 4 of these panels and they will attach to each side perfectly.

Print Settings

13x13 board

  • 0.16mm layer height (0.20 should be acceptable, draft heights are too thick)
  • Use 4 Wall loops to make it stronger and make the sound "clack!!" louder
  • Infill density 10-15%
  • No supports needed if printed upside up. If you want the texture of upside down put supports for one of the sides
  • Use rafts if you print bed give you issues with warping

Holder band

  • I print it in TPU, makes it easier to use

Star Point

  • Try printing with a 0.2mm nozzle
  • When printed use a bit of superglue to the centre of a 13x13 piece, that is where it fits
