Mamiya press mount adapter to Instax SQ1
This will allow a Mamiya Press lens to adapt to an Instax SQ1 instant camera. It requires the use of set screws to secure both the Mamiya lens to the adapter, and the adapter into the camera. The holes to secure the adapter to the camera body are to be manually drilled, they aren't modeled. After the hole is drilled through: 1. the rotating on/off ring of the instax, 2. the black plastic lens shroud of the instax, and 3. the adapter, insert a set screw and screw it in until it is recessed deep enough that the outer ring can rotate, but the black lens shroud is secured to the adapter.
The rewiring to enable the camera to advance and develop the film is surprisingly simple, and the process is given in this video: www . youtube . com/watch?v=gJnxfkFO4ws. Note this adapter is not associated with the Frankenstax. This uses the instax body and just replaces the instax lens assembly with this adapter.
I also wired the on/off switch of the rotating ring into the new circuit so that I can disable the camera from taking photos every time I accidentally pick it up.
This is version 2 with improved flange focal length and an integrated cold shoe mount, but I haven't printed it yet so may still have some kinks to work out. The flange focal distance may also be influenced by where you drill your holes to secure the adapter into the Instax lens shroud. Messing around to seal up light leaks will also be required.
