Butter Bot Model / Webcam Holder

SUMMARY:

  • This is a recreation of the Butterbot throwaway character from Rick and Morty. This was made as a gift for a family member who loves the show. The model is made to fit a late 2000s webcam that I found at goodwill, but the lense is a common webcam size, making it easy to adapt if you so desire. Additionally, the webcam can be ignored altogether if so desired.

Required Parts:

  • 3: M4 x 15 socket head bolts
  • 3: M4 nuts
(M4 x 20 also works, but will have some shaft sticking out of the pivot.)

The bolts attached may not fully seat into the counterbore; some sanding may be required.

Assembly:

  • Everything mounts as one might expect
    1) Arms bolt to the side of the top housing
    2) The upper middle section and front plate are glued into place
    3) The whole upper assembly is bolted in place.
    4) Adjust the tension in all nuts to the desired resistance/friction.

Webcam Installation:

  • Take apart an old webcam and place camera lense in hole.
  • Glue camera in place making sure wires are routed out the back of the housing

Hole Delete (2 options):

  • Glue a piece of any material to cover up the hole
  • Print and glue the cover in instead
