Avon Gas Generator (Jet Engine)
Model of an Industrial Avon Gas Generator (Carcase only - Some of the external dressing may be modelled at a later date). The overall model is split into 16 separate STL files to aid with print orientation and match the sub-assembly split-lines based on the real unit. All STL's are at 100% original scale, scaling them down to 10% in the slicer is a nice size.
Suggested print orientations are provided in the attached screenshots, support requirements should be minimal with the exceptions being file 10 (Compressor Outlet Casing) and file 9 (Intermediate Casings). For the Intermediate Casings, the recommendations would be to print them as two separate halves (upper and lower) rather than one continuous ring.
Looking in from the rear the core is just hollow, although I may model a ring of blades to replicate the LP Turbine Blades that could be seen between the Exhaust Inner and Outer Cone's.
PS - The mesh for file 8 (Front Casings) is horrible.. it’s almost completely raw scan data imported but they print ok!
WIP - External Components: Bleed Valves, Burners, Fuel Manifold. Oil Block, Speed Pick-up, Exhaust Thermocouple Harness, Mounting Trunnions and Suspension, Transport Stand.
