Bladeless Desk Fan
A "bladeless"/coanda effect USB-powered desk fan.
Assembly instructions:
Option 1 (low power, low skill, no tools):
- Purchase USB-powered 50-mm PC fan such as this one from Amazon.
- Print out base, cone, and body (without USB port)
- Assemble as shown, passing the fan wire through the hole in the bottom of the body
- Glue everything together. Superglue or hot glue should work fine.
- Option 2 (higher power, higher skill, requires soldering):
- Purchase 12V 50-mm PC fan, such as this one from Amazon
- Purchase Adjustable output USBC PD board such as this one from Amazon
- Solder appropriate pads on the USBC board to select 12V output
- Solder fan leads to output pads on the USBC board
- Print out base, cone, and body (with USB port)
- Assemble everything as shown, pressing the USBC board into the hole in the back of the body. If you bought a different USBC board you may have to modify the hole slightly.
- Glue everything together. Superglue or hot glue should work fine.
I printed this out in wood-filled PLA and stained it. It would look pretty nice if I bothered to sand it more prior to stain.
