Pumpkin Without Face for Seeds.
3D Printed Pumpkin No Face For Seeds
07/18/2025 - Version 1
Continuing on with making props, I present a pumpkin without a face made for seed pixels! Yes, my very first attempt at putting seeds on the props! (Finally!?)
It is designed like all the other props.
I don't plan on printing this for myself. I'm making these designs available for others to give back to the community that I have benefited from over the years.
If you do print this, I would be very interested in seeing your work and any suggestions for improvements. While I have looked at the pieces and ensured they fit on a
printer, I can't promise there isn't any errors. Please let me know if there is and I will correct as quickly as I can.
The hole is my first design for seeds. It is recessed to allow the seeds to fit into the hole and is mostly recessed below the surface of the prop. I would be very curious to see what you think about this.
Description:
It is composed of 26 separate pieces. (there are 2 test pieces used to test print and don't attach to the pumpkin).
Most pieces are 6mm thick with a 2mm thick raised edge that is 10mm high. This has proven to be plenty strong through several New York Winters, using PLA+ material.
Its approximate size is 930mm wide x 930mm high (37in x 37in).
It holds 225 pixels. This should light up nicely!
I know it is a lot of pieces and may be complex to put together. I hope it is worth the effort!
6.5mm holes have been placed along three "rows" of the prop to allow for mounting using clips or standoffs you like to accept 1/4" bolts.
Printer:
Each piece is sized to fit on an Ender 5 Pro printing bed (they fit in a 220x220 bed). Should be able to at least print several pieces at one time but
this won't always be the case.
This prop has my newer puzzle piece design. You no longer have to set Horizontal Expansion and the pieces should fit just fine. There are holes to use zip ties at each joint if you desire.
I created several small "test pieces" so you could set up printer without wasting much material. The two test pieces will allow you to trial your dove tail fit.
XLights:
There is an Xlights custom model provided for this prop. Submodels are defined. I believe you can use this model with 2" node spacing and not have any splices! To be safe maybe use strings with 4" between pixels.
If you come up with a better one, please share it! I'll add it to the project.
