Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration ball bearing activity
Move three 4 mm ball bearings at the same time from the divots outside the "membrane" into the different areas (chloroplast or mitochondrion) depending on which molecule (carbon dioxide, water, glucose, oxygen, etc.) you want the students to follow. Each student holds one end of the plate and all of them try to compete with the other students to finish the diffusion of molecules as photosynthesis and cellular respiration take place in a plant cell. Students must successfully move the three ball bearings from three holes from one area to 3 holes in another area. Questions can be asked at each stage in the activity. The big green circle is where I glue a magnet to store the ball bearings when not in use.
How did it go in class when you tried this? I am curious.
