Polarized light for your microscope
If you ever tried to read something from the microchip – you know that is it not so easy to do.
That’s why you might need polarized light for your microscope.
I know I know – you can buy Mechanic LS720+ today relatively cheap. But if you have a 3d printer and an old LCD screen – you don’t need to!
You only need to unglue the polarized film from the lcd screen and attach it to you Microsoft light and Barlow lens (yes, you would need 2 films to rotate one against another)
First I made a complex multi-part attachment to insert the film. But later realized that it is very difficult to cut a perfect circle from the polarized film.
But if you will clue a plastic part first – it’s easy to cut the around it!
So, just unglue the film, clean it a bit with an alcohol and a plastic card. But don’t do the perfect cleanup.
Glue plastic parts to the other side without the glue, cut the rest and cleanup the rest of the glue from the actual part.
It is easy to cut the film after the gluing, see the photo.
Print the rotation part with Raft with the side with 2 circles to the bottom!
