Parametric Die Filer
Parametric Die Filer.
Warning: this machine is highly experimental; I myself do not intend to use it in this form for real.
This model has been inspired by the MLA-18 Filing Machine:

That model has been build by e.g. blondihacks:

Since I do not have any drawings of the MLA-18 Filing Machine, my model is based on the photographs of the MLA-18 and some measurements that were shown in youtube videos.
The model is a complete metric redesign written in openscad.
I have modeled both the "original" MLA-18 and my own version which uses an ER11 collet with 10mm rod diameter. The ER11 version uses linear bearings of type LM10UU.

Remarks:
- I have 3D printed and machined the ER11 version. Powered by a battery drill (1850 rpm), the machine does work. Only a short test of running for a few minutes has been performed.
- No lubrication has been used.
- The bearing has been printed in ABS. Nylon would probably be a better choice.
- The "maincasting" has been printed in PLA
- Alignment pinholes of 2mm have been provided both for the maincasting and for the pulley.
