WAGR Standard Small Station Platform Signal Box (Double G Models) (S Scale - 1:64)
This is an improved model based on Gray Grays original concept for a platform Signal Box completely redrawn from the original Plans for the "Swan View Signal Box" of the Western Australian Government Railways which the kit was determined to be based upon.
This is modeled for S scale (The WAGR was a narrow gauge state wide railway and is modeled in WA using HO/00 mechs to run on 16.5mm Track on a 1:64th scale also known as Sn3 1/2 or Sn3.5 Scale as the narrow gauge in WA is generally 3'6" or 1067mm)
Prototype examples: while there are of course many variants with awnings and doors added or moved some stations that had a signal based on this one is not limited too are: Swan View, Carlisle, Maddington and many more presumably, one of the same basic design can be viewed at the Railway Heritage Museum in Bassendean WA.
I note that the original kit and the Swan View box doesn't have the finial on the peak of the roof, but since it was common on some examples it is added here but can be easily sanded off.
Printing, Kit - highly recommend FDM 0.2mm, 0.15 layers nozzle printing in ASA, but 0.4mm should still give good results, Resin would be even nicer, but brittle. I printed the Lever frame and furniture included here successfully with 0.2mm but doubt a 0.4 nozzle could do the print.
Assembly: Gary's notes on assembly are reproduced in the pdf attached as written and as somewhat a memorial. The 3d Print will need to be assembled in a slightly different way as the technology is different but should be fairly self evident.
Note that the roof angle is not 90degrees care should be taken to match the barge board angle, the gutter should not protrude past the barge board end.
If you do print the lever frame, the levers are in the flat and a little over size I filed them at the tip that pokes into the frame to form a slight wedge and they press fit so I could get them all to line up before gluing.
Thanks to Doug Firth for providing his copy of Gary's kit which was unfortunately warped to a point it could no longer be used.
All respect is shown to the late Gary's work; whom was a lovely and generous man and is fondly remembered in developing his Urethane Resin Kits being one of the pioneers in developing kits for the members of the S scale SIG AMRA (WA).
This has been published free here based on the presumption the kits will be otherwise no longer available.
