Title: Magnetic Chessboard with Coordinates (20mm Squares) - 5x2mm Magnet Ready
Description:
This is a sleek, 3D-printable magnetic chessboard featuring integrated algebraic notation (A-H, 1-8) along the borders. Designed with hidden internal cavities to embed small magnets, it's the perfect board for a DIY travel chess set, token-style pieces, or simply keeping your game perfectly aligned!
Key Features:
Square Size: 20 mm x 20 mm.
Algebraic Notation: Includes raised/recessed letters and numbers on the borders to easily track your moves.
Embedded Magnets: The model includes precisely modeled internal holes designed for standard 5mm (diameter) x 2mm (thickness) cylindrical magnets.
Dual-Color Ready: Perfectly designed to be printed with a simple manual filament swap (e.g., from white to black) to achieve the classic checkered pattern and highlight the text, no AMS/MMU required!
Seamless Surface: Because the magnets are sealed inside the print, the final play area is completely smooth.
Printing & Assembly Instructions:
- Hiding the Magnets:
To successfully embed the magnets inside the board, you will need to use the "Pause at Height" feature in your slicer.
Slice the model and find the exact layer right before the printer starts bridging/covering the magnet holes. Add a pause command.
When the printer pauses, carefully drop your 5x2mm magnets into the cavities.
Pro-Tip: Put a tiny drop of superglue in the hole before inserting the magnet. This prevents the magnet from jumping up and attaching to your metal nozzle when the print resumes!
Important: Double-check the magnetic polarity before placing them to ensure they attract your pieces correctly.
- Achieving the Two-Color Look:
Add a filament color change (M600 command) in your slicer at the specific layer where the top of the squares and the text begin.
Happy printing and enjoy your game!
