Skadis Caliper Holder
Skadis Caliper Holder
In my workspace, I’m gradually moving away from random tool placement toward a system where every item has a fixed, dedicated location.
Alongside the classic perforated panels on my desk that many of you are already familiar with, I’m now transitioning part of the setup to the SKÅDIS system. These panels won’t be only standard ones — some are custom-made to fit specific tasks and configurations of the workspace.
Not everything can be solved with generic hooks. Some tools require dedicated, purpose-built mounts. One of those cases is the caliper. In practice, it’s a core instrument in 3D design, modeling, and precision mechanical work. It’s also one of those tools that must always be within immediate reach. If it gets lost in a pile of tools, workflow slows down instantly.

That’s where this holder comes in.
Design logic
The Skadis Caliper Holder is a custom hook designed specifically for a caliper, focusing on fast access, stable retention, and minimal risk of dropping or damaging the tool.
The idea is simple: the tool shouldn’t just “hang somewhere” — it should always return to a precise, defined position after every use. This directly improves workflow speed and workspace order.
Mounting and mechanics
The SKÅDIS hooks are built using a screw-based connection:
- M2 countersunk screw, 14 mm length
- heat-set nut embedded into the hook body
This approach provides several advantages:
- high mechanical strength of the joint
- no play developing over time
- easy replacement or reassembly
- reliable performance under frequent use
This is not an experiment — the same fastening method is already used in other holders and has proven to be stable over time.
System context
This holder is not an isolated object but part of a larger SKÅDIS accessory system. Around several dozen additional workspace organization components are currently in development, ranging from specialized mounts to non-standard tool holders and storage solutions.
Some of these designs were created earlier, others are still being refined. Releases will be gradual as part of a unified accessory line.
Practical intent
The main goal of the entire system is not aesthetics, but speed. Workspace organization directly affects workflow efficiency and cognitive load. When a tool is not searched for but simply picked up from its exact place, unnecessary friction in the process disappears.
File availability
The ready-to-print file is available in a pre-print 3mf-format . You can use the provided STL or adjust parameters according to your own printing preferences and hardware setup.
