Summary

It may just look like a box from the outside, but on the inside is a castle designed Princess Ariel. This sand castle mold was made using Tinkercad. It's a fairly traditional style sand castle with 4 towers and two levels. I designed it to be an all in one mold for convenience sake; we all know its a real hassle to have to bring a mesh bag full of sand tools to the beach on those summer trips. Enjoy!

Instructions

Though the majority of my process was trial and error, I began by designing my idea castle on tinkercad. I uploaded a box and made it into a cube of about 60mm. From there I added a 40mm cube directly on top of the larger cube, and then grouped them. I then attached 4 20mmx80mm cylinders to each vertex of the 60mm cube, grouped them all together, and placed 25mm wide cones on top of each cylindrical tower, which I grouped again. On the top of the larger cube I added 5mmx60mm rectangles to each side, and evenly spaced 3 5mm cubes on each of these rectangles. From this point I repeated my last step on a smaller scale to proportionally fit the 40mm cube, proceeding to group the new portions together. Though I added flags and flagpoles to the corners of the top 40mm cube, I'm not sure as though they will come out when all is said and done. Finally I added a rounded-roof door to the front face of the 60mm cube, and a few scattered windows which I removed from the design later, and did a final grouping of the castle. Finally I duplicated my castle design to another work plane to create my mold. I turned the castle itself into a hole, and created a box large enough to fit over the castle, and centered the castle within the box. Finally I grouped the two items together, creating my mold, and scaled it to a smaller size.

Of course from there I had to make edits, including a removal of various floating parts within the mold, but that factor may have been a byproduct of my trial-and-error method.

Printed with .2mm filament with rafts on, and no supports.

Edits: Made the overall mold larger so the details will be more pronounced, plus made the door larger. I did not get to print this version!

Printing Tips: print this mold upside down (so the hollow part is facing up)
