Rutile Atomic Structure
This is an atomic sturcture of rutile. The rutile-type structure is adopted by various dioxides, such as TiO2 (photocatalyst), GeO2, high-pressure SiO2, etc.
in each octahedron, a cation atom (e.g. Ti) is located at the center and six oxygen atoms are at the vertices.
By printing this model, you can understand the characteristics of rutile type-structure such as:
- octahedra share horizontal edges,
- octahedra of neighboring chains share its vertices,
- there are space along c-axis (veritical line).
The stl file is made by Blender with a self-made python script.
